Fundraising for your individual NRG
Originally, when the first NRG was started in 2007 in Mariner Cove Neighborhood Association, NRGs were funded solely by neighbors. Response team equipment, supplies, education materials, etc. were all purchased by neighbors.
Only in very recent years, perhaps because of recent natural disasters, some community resources have become available, perhaps of the growing recognition that we need to prepare as communities for natural disasters. There is more motivation to get communities organized and prepared quickly .
If neighbors want to help but don't have time to volunteer, they may be willing to donate some funds.
(See how to donate below)

- Some NRGs ask for funds via flyer or email, before the Daylight Savings Drills, when resident manual information is updated, annually before the Thanksgiving holiday season starts, or passively at social events.
- Social Events, block parties, annual NRG events, with a glass donations jar still is a great way to fundraise. If your neighbors are tech savvy, Venmo and Paypal apps are easy electronic ways to collect donations.
- Employers may offer matching grants for fundraising for community or disaster preparedness goals.
- Corte Madera Community Foundation as well as Larkspur Community Foundation offer grants through the Corte Madera Emergency Preparedness Fund, and the Larkspur Disaster Preparedness /NRG Grants Fund pages. See below for more information.
- Other volunteer organizations may act as grant sponsors: The Lions Club, Corte Madera Women's Club to name a few.
How our Community Foundations Help with Disaster Preparedness Efforts
Fiscal Agents
Our Twin Cities community foundations, namely, the Larkspur Community Foundation and Corte Madera Community Foundation, generously act as fiscal agents for individual NRGs to facilitate an NRG's ability to collect tax-deductible donations and raise funds for their NRG efforts without having to do additional administration for banking and corporation administration.
Please see the appropriate community foundation and its disaster preparedness fund committee contacts below to learn more about setting up a fiscal agency account.
If your NRG already has an account with the community foundation, see the appropriate community foundation below for instructions on how to donate to a specific NRG or to the community foundation's general disaster preparedness fund.
Please note: Donations to the disaster preparedness fund OR to a specific NRG must be noted via check or online in the notes/memo page. Otherwise, donations may go the community foundation's general fund for other community projects.
