  • firesafemarin.org to learn more about wildfire safety, all topics: 
  • Central Marin Fire Marshal, Ruben Martin: Advises on hardening your home, landscaping to mitigate fire risks, potential evacuation pathways, rmartin@centralmarinfire.org, will meet with NRGs or groups of neighbors., Chipper program
  • Firewise USA program, groups of 8 neighbors to maximum 2500 homes, creating defensible space at the neighborhood level, USAA discounts, Chipper Program
  • Fireinmarin 2-hour class. Pre-registration required for this popular, informative, visual class.  To register: Call (415) 269-6836 or email FireinMarin@comcast.net and leave your name, number, fire station # if you know it and email as well as which date class you wish to attend. Katherine Randolph will reply to confirm your registration and send the location.

First Aid for Disaster Response Training

  • First Aid For Disaster Response Class (FADR) sponsored by Marin Medical Reserve Corps (MMRC). a 4-hour hands-on practice class focussed on injuries typically seen after a major earthquake. See NRG Calendar for 2019 FADR Class Schedule. Pre-registration required for this popular class with 30 person max per class. $5 donation suggested. See here
  • readymarin.org calendar for basic 18 hour CERT classes as well as continuing education for CERT members.  Marin County CERT (readymarin.org website) and Central Marin CERT District (Twin Cities including Greenbrae/Larkspur) 
  • Comprehensive Certified First Aid (CCFA) Class.  See below for 5 -hour class.

Comprehensive Certified First Aid (CCFA) Class offered by the Town of Corte Madera

The Town of Corte Madera is sponsoring a one-day, 5-hour, certified comprehensive first aid class (CCFA) which will be first offered only to active NRG and CERT members. November 3, 2018 and again on January 19, 2019. Only 50 spots per class. Early registration is encouraged.

Of note,  in addition to the First Aid modules, there will be a module on coordination between affiliated volunteers and professional first responders. A 2-year certification through ASHI and a 4 family first aid kit is given upon successful completion of the 5-hour course. $60 fee, but the fee will be waived if you successfully complete the class.

The Roadmap to Preparedness is an outreach and education program that helps renters, home and small business owners take specific steps to protect their assets and build financial safety nets for disaster resiliency. It is administered by United Policyholders (“UP”), an independent, consumer-focused non-profit that has been a source of trustworthy information and expertise on disaster recovery since 1991. Preparedness services are provided by UP staff and trained volunteers with personal experience and/or professional expertise in insurance, seismic retrofitting, fire prevention, flood and hurricane mitigation, personal finance, and asset protection.
